The requirements of a modern telecommunications network are many and varied. Over a variety of interfaces, from legacy data services up to Gigabit Ethernet, one NGN platform enables you to migrate your network infrastructure smoothly and promptly to an All-IP network infrastructure. Compact sub-racks and the high port-density guarantee for maximum efficiency in minimum space.

For example you may be planning a distribution network for the interconnection of your broadcasting stations. Whether you employ FM, DAB, DAB+, DMB, DVB-T- or DVB-H, DRM or HD technology – all signals can be distributed via the same distribution network. A highly available transmission system will guarantee your customers an uninterrupted radio and TV experience.

An Add-Drop multiplexer in the centre receives the different signals for transmission between the studio and the transmitter stations. For this purpose Ethernet/IP or X.21 interfaces are employed for FM data and a V.24 interface for supplementary data e.g. RDS data.

For DAB, DAB+, DVB-T, DVB-H, DRM and HD the corresponding interfaces are activated with the desired bandwidth in the multiplexer (G.703 or Ethernet/IP).

The bundled signal and data (multiplex) are transported via copper lines, optical fibres or radio relay systems to the broadcasting stations from where they are transferred to the transmitter. At the same time network management and alarm data are transported back to the centre via the same communication channel.

A very high availability is achieved due to various protection mechanisms at the network and network element layers.
